Cerro da Fontinha
With over a century of existence the Cerro’s taipa houses are unique renovations of earth, wood and stone housing units that mirror a complete integration with Nature. Cerro da Fontinha is comprised of typical Alentejo region houses located between Zambujeira do Mar and Odeceixe, in the Natural Park of Vicentine Coast, in the Alentejo, one of the largest European coastline reserves. This rural tourism unit is integrated in a scenery of vast landscapes shaped by the unique Nature that embodies so well the Alentejo’s southeast coast. Surrounded by beaches of exceptional beauty such as Carvalhal, Amália, Machados and Odeceixe, Cerro da Fontinha is located in a privileged geographical location and one of exceptional food.
The Cerro includes 6 houses of different typologies with single specificities that distinguish each one. The natural beauty and comfort are complemented by the solid over 150 years old construction in rammed earth or taipa, as it is known in the region. The simplicity and original building method were preserved during the renovations and the original taipa walls were discovered and stand visible. On the outside, guests can feel Nature in all its beauty. The houses are excellently located between the eucalyptus forest that protects the unit from the southeast winds and the huge natural lake, inhabited by ducks and wild swamp chickens. Either inside or outside, guests can enjoy great comfort and privacy.
Breakfast is à la carte, also served with all privacy and chosen by guests from a menu that we provide each day in their house. There is a wide selection of products and flavours among the many natural and regional flavours. And whenever guests wish breakfast is delivered at their house.
